DuPont™ Corian®

DuPont™ Corian® was originally introduced to the residential market by DuPont™ in 1971. It is made up of natural minerals and high-performance acrylics. Corian® is not "imitation Granite!" Corian® is not imitation anything! Corian® was specifically designed by DuPont™ to be a seamless, hygienic, and nearly indestructible work surface on which to prepare food. Seams are "chemically welded" together so as to virtually not exist. DuPont™ also makes Corian® sinks which are seamlessly installed. A kitchen countertop including a Corian® sink along with an optional "cove" or 1 piece backsplash is the ultimate in cleanliness and ease of care. Corian® is 100% non-porous, will not support microbial growth, and is very easy to care for. Because Corian® is 100% non-porous, it has a Federal Sanitation Foundation NSF-51 food zone use compliance. Corian® can even be used in hospital operating rooms. Corian® holds its like-new look with very little effort on your part. Unlike natural Granite countertops, Corian® never needs to be sealed. Because Corian® has a renewable surface, any scratches, nicks or signs of wear can be buffed out with minimal effort. Should any serious damage occur, a qualified fabricator can easily make a nearly invisible seamless repair in a couple of hours at minimal cost. DuPont™ Zodiaq®
DuPont™ Zodiaq® combines the strength and beauty of 100% natural quartz with Advanced Polymer Technology to create a palette of dramatic colors with consistency, tone and strength. DuPont™ Zodiaq® has the appeal and look of fine quarry-cut polished stone. Zodiaq® has several advantages over natural stone (Granite) countertops. First, because it is "Engineered Stone" Zodiaq® is made non-porous and never needs to be sealed, so less maintenance is required when compared directly with Granite. Second, DuPont™ Zodiaq® comes in 33 colors, and you can be sure what you see from a sample is what you will get when it's installed in your kitchen. Quartz is the 3rd hardest mineral on Earth. Zodiaq® will hold it's shine and withstand heavy use without scratching for many years to come. Natural Stone - Granite

Natural Stone, (Granite) in spite of all the problems associated with it, is found extensively in use as kitchen countertops today. Granite is inherently very porous and even when sealed will not earn the Federal NSF-51 food zone use compliance necessary for use in any commercial food preparation area. Because of this inherent problem, until recently The Countertop Shoppe did not offer Granite as an option for kitchen countertop replacement.
